Hi everyone! Welcome to Reading Off To Wonderland.
I am a voracious reader and long time book addict. When I was a kid my parents would take my books away from me as punishment for when I misbehaved (yes, I know this is unbelievably nerdy). When I had my reading privileges, I would sneak out of bed after lights out to lay on the floor of my bedroom and read by the light of my nightlight…pretty sure this contributed to my need for glasses starting in second grade.
Over time my tastes have shifted firmly towards YA or adult fantasy and paranormal with a dash of romance. For a long time these were my “guilty pleasure” reads but eventually I just decided screw the guilt – this is what I want to read! Once I stopped feeling guilty I fell DEEP into a fantasy romance rabbit hole, and then found communities of people (thank you Goodreads and Reddit!) who loved the same books and had tons of recommendations for similar titles.
In 2016 my New Year’s resolution was to start using Goodreads to track my books – it was a game changer and I’m so glad I did it (and have been able to keep it up). For 2021 I've decided to take it one step further and start blogging about the books I read. 2020 is what finally pushed me to start this blog. Reading has always been an escape for me, and with stay at home orders and temporary unemployment I spent a LOT of time reading.
I've never documented my thoughts about books anywhere - some star ratings on Goodreads but never a full review. Only recently have I realized that there are books that I've read multiple times where I wish I remembered what I thought the first time I read them. Hopefully this is the place to start doing that - and to revisit old favorites.
I love getting lost in a completely different universe, the more magical the better. Hence the title of this blog, Reading Off To Wonderland. Come and join me!
